GIC 2020 – Cancellation

What happened to the Global Internship Conference in Vancouver, Canada?
GIC 2020 has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
What will happen to future Global Internship Conferences?
The Global Internship Conference will return to North America in June 2021. We will postpone future conferences to the following years.

2022 – Cape Town, South Africa
2023 – Miami, Florida
2024 – Lisbon, Portugal

Refunds

Full refunds will be processed for those who provide notice or complete the cancellation form before May 1, 2020.

I am planning to attend GIC 2021 in Vancouver--can I simply transfer my registration fee to GIC 2021?
Paid registrants can transfer their registration to the GIC 2021 at the same rate. Registrants will be asked to provide notice or complete a short cancellation form asking whether you plan to transfer your registration to next year’s conference. If we do not hear from you or complete the cancellation form is not completed, we will assume you are planning to join for the GIC 2021 Conference.
Will my hotel booking be cancelled?
The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver has cancelled all bookings within the conference room block. Please contact the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver and confirm the cancellation of your booking.

Will I be refunded for the Pre-Conference Internship Site Visits and Post-Conference Tours?
Yes, when you respond about your registration refund or transfer we will include the additional programs and costs that were paid for. The cost for these programs are listed below.

Pre-Conference Internship Site Visits: $75 USD
Post-Conference Tours – $110 USD

I am an exhibitor and/or sponsor--will my fees be refunded?
We hope that you will consider sponsoring next year’s conference as we plan to replicate the interest, participation and value for GIC 2021. Since the GIC 2018 in Detroit, we have increased the value of registration and sponsorship without increasing our fees – our value and network to attendees, exhibitors, sponsors are one of our biggest priorities.

Should you wish to maintain your sponsorship item at the current rate for 2021, we can hold onto your fees and apply them to the 2021 Conference. However, If you would like a refund, please email us by May 1, 2020 and we will process the refund.

I am planning to be an exhibitor and/or sponsor at GIC 2021 --can I simply transfer my exhibit and/or sponsorship fee to GIC 2021?
Yes. If you are planning to sponsor next year’s conference, we will transfer the total amount of sponsorship to next year. Please visit the Global Internship Conference website for further details.

Call for Proposals

I would like to present at GIC 2021, what is the process?
We look forward to receiving your ideas as we continue the conversation for GIC 2021. The Call for Proposals will open in August 2020. The deadline for submissions through the online portal will be in November 2020.

Will I have to resubmit my presentation or poster proposal next year?
Unfortunately, all submissions must be submitted again for next year’s conference. We will be announcing the theme by July 2020. We would greatly appreciate your thoughts and suggestions for potential themes, topics and discussions.
