Dr. Lois Trautvetter
Professor and Program Director, Northwestern University
Dr. Lois Calian Trautvetter is the program director of Northwestern University’s Higher Education Administration and Policy program, professor in the School of Education and Social Policy, and researcher. Her teaching and research interests have focused on students, faculty, and improving postsecondary education that include best practices that support recruitment and retention (especially for women and historically underrepresented), mentoring, collegiality, work expectations, career development, and professional development issues such as productivity, enhancing teaching and research, interdisciplinary and global collaboration, motivation, personal stressors, and faculty-student interaction. Dr. Trautvetter earned her Ph.D. at University of Michigan and has received grants from NSF, Simons Foundation, Templeton Foundation, and Lilly Endowment. She was a former chemical engineer holding patents in the coatings and resins industry.
