Biography

Andres Trink is a member of the Board of Directors of the Baltic American Freedom Foundation since 2010. He has extensive senior management and board experience from both private and public sectors in the Baltic-Nordic region. He has been the long-serving CEO of Merko, the largest stock market listed real estate and construction group in the Baltic region, that became one of the best performing large companies in the region during his tenure as the CEO. Andres has also held senior management positions at Swedbank, where he worked as the head of credit and risk (CRO) as well as at the Bank of Estonia (central bank), where he served as a board member and the Head of Banking Supervision with responsibility for several bank resolutions in the aftermath of the 1998 financial crisis. From 2002-2006 he served as the chairman of the Estonian Financial Supervision Authority and was actively involved in financial regulatory committees at the European level, including as the chairman. His experience also includes several board directorships of companies operating in the region as well as the Estonian Deposit Insurance Fund. He is currently the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of two Polish energy sector companies and a board director at the largest investment and pension fund management company in Estonia.

From 1997-1998 Mr. Trink was the country managing director of the Baltic-American Enterprise Fund, a 50 million US dollar debt and equity investment fund. From 1993-1997 he served at the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including three years as a diplomat at the Estonian Embassy in Washington, DC.

Mr. Trink graduated from Tallinn University of Technology (Tallinn, Estonia) with a Master of Science degree (With Honors, Summa Cum Laude) in Systems Engineering and has completed the INSEAD (Fontainebleau, France) Advanced Management Program.

A native Estonian, he currently resides in Berlin, Germany and can also communicate in English, German, Russian and Finnish languages.
