Pablo Allen
CIEE
I am Costa Rican, born and raised in San José. I'm an evolutionary ecologist interested in sexual selection, animal weapons, and phenotypic plasticity. Since rejoining CIEE in 2019 I have become very interested in conservation and wildlife ecology (e.g., consequences of habitat fragmentation). I received my BSc. and MSc. in Biology from the University of Costa Rica, and I earned a PhD. in Entomology from the University of Florida in 2017. During my Ph.D. research, I conducted fieldwork in Florida, Panamá, and the southwest desert of the United States. I have supervised many undergraduate researchers in the process. First as academic director, and now as center director one of my main goals is to improve the delivery of our courses through the implementation of more experiential approaches and learning-by-doing.
