Biography
Bukky Adebowale is a policy innovator, leader, and changemaker dedicated to empowering minority ethnic communities and driving social change. With a background in reproductive science, equality, and youth engagement, she works at the intersection of healthcare, policy, and leadership to create impact.
A UCL graduate with distinction, Bukky’s pioneering research on ethnicity representation in the fertility sector opened conversations on inclusivity in healthcare. As Policy Education Officer at the Irish Network Against Racism (INAR), she leads anti-racist initiatives advancing systemic change. Bukky has also worked alongside organisations like Black and Irish and the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre, collaborating on various projects promoting community impact and consent.
Globally, Bukky has worked with the British Council on initiatives such as the 90 Youth Voices Programme and continues to engage with them on global youth empowerment projects. She also engages with the European Parliament and has represented Ireland at the European Leadership Academy (Summer School for Female Leadership in the Digital Age, Prague), speaking at their international galas in Valencia and Zagreb.
Before stepping into leadership roles in these spaces, Bukky’s journey began by recognising that valuable experience could be gained not just in academia, but in the world challenges of policy, activism, and community engagement. Early on, she held roles at Maynooth Students’ Union and later as Vice President for Equality and Citizenship at the Union of Students in Ireland, laying the groundwork for her broader mission to inspire and drive change across various sectors.
