Biography

Rebecca A. Pasini serves as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Private Sector Exchange in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, a role she assumed in 2023. Prior to this she led the Office of Public and Congressional Affairs in the Bureau of Consular Affairs, where she oversaw the bureau’s strategic communication and engagement.

A career member of the Senior Foreign Service, Ms. Pasini joined the U.S. Foreign Service in 1997. Her career includes serving as Minister Counselor for Consular Affairs in Islamabad, Pakistan and as Consular Chief in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In Washington she has held positions in the Bureau of Consular Affairs, the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs, and in the Office of Foreign Missions, as well as serving as a liaison to the Department of Homeland Security. Her overseas assignments also include Belfast, Mexico City, and Kuwait City.

A Maryland native, Ms. Pasini earned a Ph.D. in Political Science from Indiana University and is a Distinguished Graduate of the National Defense University’s Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy. She also holds a B.A. from Mary Washington College.
